7 months & Playzone for Kedaar

Kedaar completed 7 months last friday. We went to a birthday party in the evening and went to temple from there.
Last week has been pretty hectic for us as Kedaar's day care lady took vacation. So I and Chandra worked in shifts (morning 6 AM - 12.30 PM and 1 PM-8 PM). We also got the playzone last week. It is very spacious, colorful and is helping Kedaar to be safe in one place. However the problem is that he does not want to play there alone and we have to accompany him most of the times. Otherwise he stands by holding onto it and keeps waiting for us to pick him up.
He is also trying to walk little bit by using it as support.

Kedaar's fun

Slideshow of Kedaar's recent photos.

Kedaar's new crib

Over the long weekend, we bought a wood crib and mattress for Kedaar from target.
He has been sleeping in that during night for 2,3 days now.
As Kedaar is able to stand now, he hits himself to the wood railings and tries to jump if we keep him in the crib when he is awake and active.
He is able to reach the mobile toy also with his hands.
So we just put him in crib after he comepletely falls asleep and also removed the mobile toy.

Kedaar stands up

Kedaar started to stand up using support from the past 2 ,3 days. He is able to put his hands on sofa and eventually stand up.
He also tries to hold our hands or rocker or pillow or anything possible to support himself in standing position. He is also crawling super fast these days. He just likes to explore everything.

We ordered the little playzone gate with 4 extensions that creates around 53 square feet space for Kedaar to play. We explored several other gates but thought this would be a good thing for him as it is colorful and has some toys to play as well. We are eagerly waiting for its arrival.

New foam playmat

We bought an alphabetical foam playmat today. We created some space for Kedaar in our great room to crawl using this.
This is soft and nice. Kedaar could crawl easily on this and he really liked looking at the colors around him.

Kedaar in duck bath tub

This is the inflatable duck bath tub we bought on Kedaar 6th month birthday. This product is so cute and creative. Kids will love this instantly.
Today morning Kedaar got up and being little cranky, then we showed this inflated duck tub to him. He was so excited to see this.Immediately sat in this and played for long time. We will use this tub for his bath from now on.

Happy 6th month birthday

Kedaar completed 6 months today. Time just flies by. Can not believe its already been 6 months since this little baby entered into our world.

I made kheer in the morning and made Kedaar taste it :) We took him to library in the evening and got some books for him. We went to Target and bought 2 books(one for colors and one for animals), a cap and inflatable duck bath tub for him.

Below are some new things about Kedaar in the past few days.

-He is crawling little bit on his knees. When I am in kitchen, he tries to crawl towards me. We have put comforters in our great room to create space to crawl. But he comes out of that space within seconds. We are thinking that we might
need a play gate kind of thing that could confine him to a certain area.
-He is able to sit by himself and balance in that position for 3-5 mins.
-We started him on solids. The day care lady is giving little bit of jar food in the afternoon.I am trying to give rice cereal with daal in the night. He eats
maximum one spoon and thats it. We still need to practice giving solids.
-Chandra nowadays gives him bath in bath tub and Kedaar enjoys it a lot.He keeps on
splashing water while he is there.

-We bought a rocker for him. But he does not want to sit there for long. He likes to go around and explore everything in the house.
-We got some telugu animation VCDs from India. kedaar loves watching those songs. That is the only way to keep him in one place these days.

Kedaar in action

Kedaar is becoming very active day by day.For the last 3,4 days he is trying out some new things. He tries to balance himself on his knees instead of stomach for a little while. He is doing some attempts to sit by using his hands as support. One of his favorite activities is putting his toes into the mouth. He moves very fast on his stomach and some times by using his head as support.

Tulips

[posted by Neeraja]

We went to see the Tulips last sunday. The season is between April 1 - 30 this year. Though we went at almost nearing the end of the season, the fields were still wonderful with several colors.

Kedaar had lot of fun looking at the brightness around him.We also had few Tulips at our home. These are grown from bulbs we had put last year. Albumn below has some of our photos with Tulips.

Kedaar's first India trip

[posted by Neeraja]

The albumn below has few photos from our recent India trip.

Indiatrip

We came back from our India trip on the evening of March 31st. Our return journey was in Malaysian Airlines through the route Hyd -> Koulalampur -> Los Angeles -> Seattle.
We did not get bassinet for Kedaar on our forward journey to India, however we called earlier and managed to
get bassinet for all the flights in our return trip. This made the journey little easier as Kedaar could get atleat few hours of undisturbed sleep.
One thing I must mention about this trip is the airport hotel we stayed in Singapore while traveling to Hyderbad.
The hotel was excellent and really made our hectic trip little better.

India trip was fun overall though it felt like a very short one. Everybody were so excited to see this little, ever smiling baby.
Kedaar also seemed very happy being sorrounded by so many people who would take care of him. Chandra's sisters kids
Pavan, Padmasri and my brother's son Rutwik, sister's son Sunny played with Kedaar a lot and had lot of fun.
During our stay,we had Satyanarayana Vratham function in Kurnool and an informal "Annaprasana" ( introducing solids) ceremony
in Hyderabad. Generally "Annaprasana" is done in 6th month for boys and is done by mother's brother.
We wanted to do it atleast informally for Kedaar when were in India though he is in his 5th month as my brother would be there.
Both functions went on smoothly and lot of relatives joined us for the functions.

Kedaar appeared to be extremely tired in this trip after long journeys and also in coping up with the excessive heat in India. He had jetlag for 3 days after we went there and just kept on sleeping all the time. Later he got severe rashes through out his body. He had little bit of cradle cap (redness on scalp) before we left for India. The doctor here suggested to use cetaphil cleanser, moisturizer for him instead of soaps. Luckily I carried everything to India.I also took all his clothes from here, but we did not use a single one of them in India :)
We had to buy some cotton summer clothes for him and he appeared like a totally different boy in those clothes.
We bought some traditional dresses for him in India that he could wear once he starts walking.3 weeks just flew by, we felt very sad to come back to Seattle all alone.Grand parents from both sides were also very sad to leave Kedaar. It was a gloomy time, and we keep missing everyone even after 1 week after coming from India.

We joined Kedaar in a home day care in Issaquah from Monday , April 2nd onwards. THe day care story is an interesting one.
Chandra changed his job to myspace.com before we left for India. His office is in Seattle downtown now.
So the original day care (Brown Bear educare) we planned in Bellevue was not a very convenient one for dropping Kedaar and picking him up. However we decided to keep him there for a month because we paid 1 month advance.
On sunday night, the brown bear day care people sent a mail saying that they can not keep kedaar for 1 month as they
were not getting one teacher they were expecting to return. It was a shock. Our plan was to join him there from monday and go to our jobs.We did not have any sleep that night. Next day early morning I called one home day care lady Kathy that I got recommendation from my Expedia colleagues. She was absolutely nice and agreed to keep Kedaar immediately . She has 4 kids in the day care, 2 of them are > 2yrs age and one girl (Mirinda) is just 2 weeks older them Kedaar.

Kedaar has done well in his 1st week of day care. He still has jet lag, sleeps all the day and is wake up all the night.
We are trying to get him to routine this weekend.

India trip booked

[posted by Neeraja]

We booked flight to go to India this friday (March 9th).
We planned this all of a sudden and this is going to be a short trip from
March 9th - 31st because Chandra and myself do not have lot of leave. Kedaar just got his passport today and Chandra will be traveling to San Francisco on Wednesday to get the tourist visa for Kedaar. We could not travel along with my parents because Kedaar did not have visa.

We will be traveling from Seattle - SFO, SFO-Singapore and Singapore to Hyderabad. Overall this is coming to a 40 hr hectic with long hault (9hrs) in Singapore. We had to choose this as the Northwest airlines which is convenient with just one flight change is not available till Tuesday, March 13th.We plan to book airport hotel in Singapore so that we can relax during the long hault.I made a list of things to buy for Kedaar for the flight journey. We plan to get Kedaar's 4 months vaccinations done tomorrow so that he will have little bit of time to become normal before we leave for India on friday.I took leave for this entire week because putting Kedaar in day care for just 1 week does not make sense.

Everyone back in India are waiting to see Kedaar and we are also very excited to go to India after 2 years. Hopefully everything will be smooth.

Parents left for India

[posted by Neeraja]

My parents left for India today. We dropped them at the airport in the morning.
They helped us so much for the past 51/2 months during my last months of pregnancy and in taking care of Kedaar since he was born in November.Having them at home used to give so much a relaxation for me and Chandra. Kedaar loved being with them and they loved playing with him and in taking care of him irrespective of day or in the middle of the night.I haven't been even cooking while my mother was here :)

Today when we came back from airport, suddenly the house seemed so empty, silent and lonely. I am at home with Kedaar from morning and have been missing them.
